The Bishop’s note

Beloved brothers and sisters in Christ,
Warm greetings to you all in the mighty and merciful name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. I greet you with love and deep appreciation for your continued commitment to the life of the Church and the well-being of our beloved nation, Kenya. I acknowledge with gratitude the faithful service of clergy, lay leaders, men, women, youth and every Christian in your various callings during these trying times.

We are walking through a season that tests our strength, patience, and endurance. Yet, even in the midst of uncertainty and struggle, we are reminded of the eternal truth that “faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1). Our hope is not rooted in changing circumstances, but in the unchanging promises of God. Let us hold fast to our faith, knowing that the Lord who has brought us this far will carry us forward.

I urge all Kenyans to rise above division and embrace one another as brothers and sisters created in the image of God. Our unity is our strength. Our peace is our shared responsibility. As the Church, we are called to be salt and light—agents of healing, peacemaking, and reconciliation. Let us reject hatred, tribalism, and violence, and instead sow the seeds of mutual respect and love.

We are aware of the economic pressures burdening families, the rising cost of living, the frustrations among our youth, and the cries of those who feel unheard. We also recognize the spiritual and moral challenges that threaten the fabric of our society. These issues must not be ignored. As shepherds of God’s people, we are committed to standing with you, praying for you, and working alongside you for a better tomorrow.

I call upon the Church to arise and shine: to pray persistently, speak truth boldly, and serve selflessly. Let each local congregation become a centre of hope and transformation. Let our families be places of peace and instruction. Let our voices echo the call of Christ in every village, town, and city: “Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)

May the Lord bless you and keep you;
the Lord make His face shine upon you; the Lord turn His face towards you and give you peace.
And the blessing of God Almighty, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit be among you and remain with you always. Amen.
